House Building in Cambodia

Dear family and friends,

A big reason why we are living in Cambodia is that on our first trip here three years ago we were moved by the people and their circumstances. We participated in a humbling community outreach trip that helped us to learn about ourselves as much as it helped to bring human dignity to those we reached out to.

Janne Ritskes, a Canadian and founder of TABITHA has helped to lift Cambodians out of poverty for many years. We know Janne and the organization very well and trust fully in its efforts to help Cambodians through its savings program and water wells and house building projects.

A house costs $1000 US to build. Each of the partner families with Tabitha diligently save over two to three years the $30 contribution they are required to make towards their new one-room home. This requirement instills a sense of pride and ownership in the new homeowners.

We are asking our friends and family to consider donating $30 toward the project.

Should we raise $1000 (that’s 32 people donating $30) we will have together built a home and brought a brighter future to a Cambodian family.

Craig and I will also match the $1000 so we will in fact, together built two homes!!!

We are very aware when we participate in house building that every home built is a home built by the love of a greater community, not just the house building team. You are an integral part of the project’s success. You can witness the impact of your donation through watching the video.

If you feel this is something you would like to support, please complete the following steps to make a donation:

1. Go to the Tabitha Canada website at http://Tabitha.ca

2. Once you have entered the site, go to “Please give generously” and then to “Donate on-line now” to donate through CanadaHelps.org. Please note that Tabitha is a registered charity and all donations are tax deductible.

3. Once you have made your donation please type the following message to ensure the money supports our house building project "Money for International School of Phnom Penh staff house building trip, February 2009"

Thank you for your support and if you have time, please explore the Tabitha website so as to help you better understand the organization and contact us should you have any questions.

With much love and thanks,

Angela and Craig
